This is a 5-week series and will run on 5 consecutive Monday’s.

INTRO TO ART THERAPY & CREATIVE PROCESS

This group will give participants an experiential introduction to the practice and theory of art therapy – and to an assortment of different art materials and ways of using them, both individually and collaboratively.

ROAD/MAP

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 3-week workshop series.

In this series we’ll be working on two mapping projects that we’ll revisit and add to each week. One paper-based, and one fabric-based.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore several different art materials and processes, and we’ll talk a bit about maps in general …what sorts of information they hold, what expectations we have of them, how they’re used, how they’re made, who makes them.

NOTE: You can use your punch card for this series (equal to three “punches”).

CREATIVE PERI/MENOPAUSE

PLEASE NOTE: This group is for women 35 years +.

This is a space to discuss, consider and make art around our experiences of aging. Peri-menopause, Menopause – and all of the sometimes unsettling, sometimes liberating, and sometimes curious parts of that.

My hope is that this will become a group that I run on the regular. Where we can continue to explore, create, and support each other. Women supporting women. No expectations, no judgement.

PATCHWORK, WOMEN & AUTONOMY

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 5-week workshop series.

This group will explore ideas around “visible mending” as a metaphor for recognizing our wounds, strengthening our understanding of our needs, and supporting (and reinforcing) our capacities to repair and connect …and find our voices. Patchwork as a feminist act.

We will be creating personal and collaborative projects with an assortment of textiles, nature objects, traditional and non-traditional art materials.

TEXTILES & MAP-MAKING

We’ll be exploring map-making with a variety of different materials and applications. We’ll talk a bit about different types of maps and ways of “mapping” …both in terms of the familiar experiences that most of us have had with maps, and also broadening that to include some maybe less familiar and creative approaches to creating our own maps. Maybe we want to record what we’ve done, where we’ve been…where we want to go. Or maybe our map will be more about seeing what unfolds while we ponder a certain relationship in our lives, or experiences we’ve had. Or maybe it’s a map to a treasure, or to the corner store. We’ll have the opportunity to explore several different materials, processes, and conversations around maps – and how we move around, negotiate space, and document all of that.

WALKING, FORAGING & WEAVING

PLEASE NOTE: This is a seasonal offering, check back in the Spring for workshop dates!

We’ll start with a short walk & forage together to Second Beach, and then we’ll gather with our found nature bits and other yarns and materials from my studio – and create our own weavings together. Tea and/or bubbly water is provided. And we’ll be weaving on the beach for sunset!
