HEY SHAUNA ART THERAPY CONSULTATION
I receive lots of requests from lovely folks at many different stages of their career, private practice & studies …wanting to chat about the logistics of doing this work.
And while I would love to gab about all things art therapy all day long… I can’t realistically (or reasonably) do this for free with everyone who reaches out. SO, consultation chats!
WHAT IT IS (and ISN’T)
I want to be super clear that these are NOT supervision or therapy sessions. Think of it more as an opportunity for you to ask me anything you’d ask on a pick-my-brain-coffee-date ….or in a I-just-have-a-bunch-of-questions email …but with reciprocity.
What this looks (and feels) like is you valuing and respecting my time, training, and experience in a tangible way. And that I’m keen to show up FULLY for you in our session.
These are super casual meetings. I’m not a business coach. I am a gal that’s been self-employed for over 20 years (art therapy, and previously web design) – and have done plenty of bumbling, trouble-shooting, flailing, wee victory dances, liberation whoops, and full-body cries …because being self-employed is hard. But I also can’t imagine doing it ANY OTHER WAY.
And …choosing to become an art therapist (in my mid 40’s) was easily one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made. It fits. I’ve built a work life that nourishes me, and doesn’t burn me out.
WHO THESE SESSIONS ARE FOR
These sessions are for folks that are considering applying to an art therapy school/training (anything beyond that, please see my SUPERVISION session options).
- maybe you’re uncertain if the field is a right fit for you…
- or you’re pondering different schools/programs…
- or you want to chat about the difference between an art therapist and a therapeutic arts practitioner…
- or you’re curious about the importance of previous fine arts training/experience…
- or you just want to chat with someone who is in private practice, ask some questions.
BOOKING & RATES
$125/hour (plus GST)
I also welcome dyads (bring a friend, and split the cost!).
If you’d like to book a session, you can do that either through my online booking calendar, or by contacting me to arrange something by email (email@example.com).
My credentials are RCAT (Registered Canadian Art Therapist, #380-R-23), with the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA), which will allow professional and student art therapists (in Canada) to count SUPERVISION hours together towards your own requirements (for school and/or professional registration). For anyone outside of the field of art therapy, or in a different country, you'll want to check with the requirements of your regulating body.
AND, I absolutely welcome folks from other areas of therapy/counselling to inquire about supervision ....private or group... with the awareness that the hours may not be able to be tallied for your own registration/schooling requirements, but the support (individual, community, peer) is still here.
Author Ursula Le Guin describes our imaginations as the single most useful tool that we possess – a tool that we have to learn how to use, “to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them” – that the learning, teaching, and exercising of our imaginations is something foundational to our basic life skills “for growth, for health, for competence, for joy”.
