Hey Shauna Art Therapy

Clinical supervision & neurodiversity affirming practice support

These sessions can absolutely include case consultation …and they can also be SO much more than that. We can talk about ANYTHING that’s coming up for you …as a therapist/counsellor …as a human in that role.

We can talk about building systems & gathering resources that support you in your work (and life), logistics around being in private practice/self employed, building a neurodiversity-affirming practice, your own lived experience with neurodivergence (with or without formal diagnosis), we can make art in session (or not), we can explore Brainspotting, we can shake and wiggle our bodies when things feel jammed up or overwhelming. Please know that we can bend and shape these sessions to FIT YOU.

I will ALWAYS be bringing this in to our conversations and consultations. Sometimes explicitly, sometimes more nuanced …it’s a foundation to how I practice, and how I understand this work (and our collective lived experience in the world).

And I do want to be specific in that I work with adults only, and not youth/children …which extends into an understanding that the information & perspective that I’ll be showing up with will be specific to supporting adults. I want to be super clear with this distinction, as I believe that the conversations, supports, and experiences are very different in many ways.

  • Art therapy students and professional art therapists looking to register with CATA or BCATA.
  • AND, I’m also delighted to work with any sort of therapist/counsellor interested in neurodiversity-affirming practice …just do keep in mind that if you practice outside of the field of art therapy, you may not be able to count your hours with me towards your own registration/regulation requirements.
  • Maybe you’re a counsellor, therapist, social worker, community support worker, care provider, teacher… and you’d like to learn more about how to show up differently for the people in your life (perhaps even yourself) that locate on the spectrum(s) of Neurodivergence.

  • PRIVATE (1:1) – $175/hour (plus GST)
  • DYADS (2 people) –  $90 each, 1-hr session (plus GST)
  • GROUPS –  $75 each, 2-hr session (plus GST)

Let me know if you’re interested in group supervision, and I’ll keep you in the loop!

If you’d like to book a private (1:1) session, you can do that either through my online booking calendar, or by contacting me to arrange something by email or telephone (I prefer email, but both work!).

I get a LOT of requests from lovely folks at many different stages of their career, private practice & studies… wanting to chat about the logistics of doing this work.

And while I would LOVE to gab about all things art therapy all day long… unfortunately I can’t realistically (or reasonably) do this for free with everyone who reaches out. SO, consultations!

These consultations can include topics like:

  • being in (or starting) a private therapy/counselling/coaching practice
  • small business supports & systems
  • considering entering into art therapy (or therapeutic arts practitioner) training/schooling

I want to be super clear that these are NOT supervision or therapy sessions. What they ARE are an opportunity for you to ask me anything you’d ask on a pick-my-brain-coffee-date …or in a I-just-have-a-few-dozen-questions email …but with reciprocity.

What this translates into is you valuing & respecting my time, training, and experience in a tangible way – and that I’m keen to show up FULLY for you in our session.

These are super casual meetings. I’m not a business coach. I am a gal that’s been self-employed for over 20 years (art therapy, and previously web design) – and have done plenty of bumbling, trouble-shooting, flailing, wee victory dances, liberation whoops, and full-body cries… because being self-employed is hard. But I also can’t imagine doing it ANY OTHER WAY.

$125/hour (plus GST)

I also welcome dyads (bring a friend, and split the cost!).

If you’d like to book a session, you can do that either through my online booking calendar, or by contacting me to arrange something by email or telephone (I prefer email, but both work!). If you’re in

Hey Shauna Art Therapy

I am a Registered Canadian Art Therapist (RCAT) with the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA). I’ve been in private practice for about 7 years (and self employed for over 20 years).

I have worked almost exclusively with adults …so please do consider that when/if booking a session with me.

If you have any questions – please ask.

Author Ursula Le Guin describes our imaginations as the single most useful tool that we possess – a tool that we have to learn how to use, “to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them” – that the learning, teaching, and exercising of our imaginations is something foundational to our basic life skills “for growth, for health, for competence, for joy”.
